Me in 12 Words or Less: Life is a gift from God that is meant to be relished.
I am an attorney in Northern California. I help people with everyday legal problems. Outside of law, I love skiing, mountain biking, trail running, backpacking, ballet, Tough Mudders, Krav Maga, choral music, cello, and beekeeping. I’ve been to most of the 50 States and about 15 countries, mostly in Europe. I’ve also traveled to South America and Chiapas for short-term mission work.
CHRIS’ PERSPECTIVE ON INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY:
God is present in every step of our journey, regardless of whether we would consider it ordinary or expressly religious. But there is something special about venturing across cultural lines to share the life that Jesus came to give us. I enjoy doing that in Mexico and South America where the people are warm and always seem to have time to talk. It is a moment for mutual exchange, encouragement, and edification.
Foreign missions can jar you loose from your normal supports. That tends to reduce life to fundamental needs, fewer assumptions, and more questions. In that unfamiliar state, life regains a childlike wonder and simplicity. Nothing compares to the fun of playing soccer with kids in a third-world country, taking a sunrise run down a totally unfamiliar jungle trail, going to a church service where you don’t know what’s going on, trying new food you had no idea existed (or old food you wished didn’t), or being a guest at the home of someone whose language you don’t know.
