Description
Photography is a beautiful way to illustrate attributes of God to others, but there is more than one way to do that! On Global Encounters photography mission trips, we bring cameras to teach basic photography to children in other countries and then relate our lessons to the Gospel. A portion of the sale of these cards goes to support ministry efforts in Myanmar and Ecuador.
The story behind the images featured in Ecuador – Collection 1:
I took these images on my first mission trip in 2013. We had stopped at this beautiful hostel in a mountain town called Otavalo on our way to do children’s ministry in another city. I was exhausted from our prior week of teaching, but God brought rest to me here. I remember going to the rooftop at night and just wondering at His greatness.
Little did I know that God would bring me back here 4 years later to lead a team for the first time. This time the ministry was rough. We were working with the kids from the town who run in the streets and often participate in gangs. We had to watch our pockets and our possessions as several things were stolen. Kids were not good listeners and would climb out of the windows in our classrooms during activities. But we were amazed when we heard the story of the Ecuadorian missionaries who work with the people here. They had been in ministry for years and were working on translating the Bible into the native tribal language. They had seen many trials, including having their tent of meeting burned down. But they said they were finally starting to see the fruit of their labor. People were becoming open to the Word of God. Sometimes we do not see the fruit of our labor. Sometimes it takes years and years to see what the seeds that were planted produced. I am always amazed and challenged when I hear the stories of the faithful who have stuck it out through the hard times.
