So apparently I got drafted by our team leaders to write about our adventures this weekend. This being our vacation weekend we have all been taking it easy and relaxing after a long week last week, it also included driving around the country in a bus touring several castles and seeing all the country here. I think it’s a well earned break for the team after last week doing two programs a day out in high 90 degree heat.
Saturday morning we got up around 8am and got a tour of the fortified church that we stayed at last night. Then we had some breakfast on the bus on the way to a fortress on top of a mountain. Before we left we had a quick, traditional lunch, “schwarma”.
After that we drove about 2 hours away to see a Castle. It was another beautiful place and lots of fun in spite of it being a little crowded with tourists. We ended that with a good dinner at a nice restaurant, then had little over an hour drive to our hotel for the night. We spent the evening walking around the town and stopped at an outdoor coffee shop. It is a nice resort town surrounded by high mountains. It was lots cooler here and very nice outside. We all spent the night just relaxing and catching up with people since we had WiFi at the hotel.
Sunday morning, after a quick breakfast we headed out to a Palace about 15 minutes away. This was by far the prettiest place we had seen yet with some amazing collections of art, furniture, and weapons. The architecture and furnishings were extravagant and very beautiful. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to take pictures of the inside. It was definitely well worth the time to see.
After visiting the palace, we spent several hours on the road headed west to the place where we are going to be working for the next two weeks. We met up with the missionary family who is hosting us and had a good dinner. We then spent the rest of the evening settling into our new quarters.
This past week has been very challenging for me and I have been doing lots of things that were totally out of my comfort zone. I have, however, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The biggest thing I had to learn was how to teach children and keep them focused on what I was trying to teach. This is something I have never really done and it was definitely a growing experience for me.
Please pray for us as we continue our work here, and especially for our final week of camp, that the children would be open and able to attend. We are always facing new challenges every day and we need your prayers that we would have wisdom and knowledge to teach the gospel message to all who will listen. Please also pray for open hearts and minds so that all who are seeking the Lord would hear His message.
