Hola from Chiapas! I just want to start by saying: Mexico is pretty great! So this morning our team jumped into Psalm 119, looking at what it means to be blameless in our walk as Christians. It was really neat to take the verse apart as a team then listen as everyone chipped-in little bits of wisdom on the matter. Today was the first day of class for me since I had a hard time getting out of the USA due to snow and such and got in a day late. Class was actually fun, haha! I really didn’t know what to expect as far as classes went, but our teacher (Yasmina) is all about us learning and not at all worried with how long it may take. She is great!
After class it was fun to sit down with one of the more advanced students and work through the pronunciation and meaning of the words I got in class, which included John and I trying (an emphasis on TRYING, lol) to roll our ‘R’s. Later this evening we headed out to a near-by church for an evening service where we learned about how we need to take off the old self and put on the new clothes of Christ while having a child-like faith in our Father who is in heaven.
I would like to close with a few verses I read this morning which stuck out to me. “I will pour out water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your decedents. They shall spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams. This one will say, “I am the Lord’s” another will call on the name of the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, “The Lord’s” and name himself by the name of the Lord.” (Isaiah 44:3-5) I think the reason these verses really jumped out at me is because God is promising to work in the following generations and bless them with His Spirit, which will lead to a Joy of belonging to the Lord and identifying with Him. This is my prayer for our team: That we would find great joy in the Lord and glorify Him in all our words and deeds. What a great day!
